The project – insulated conservatory roofing on a new conservatory
Mr and Mrs Meanwell wanted a conservatory installed on their new Skegness home. They knew from the start that they wanted an insulated roof. A less reputable company had left their close family member with poorly constructed conservatory roofing. This roofing had panels which moved, contributing to frequent leaks and poor acoustics.
Mrs Meanwell was looking for a space to relax and watch her favourite shows, so ensuring that the conservatory had high-quality acoustics was a priority.
When a surveyor from our parent company, Spire Windows, visited them for another project, he suggested Thermotec insulated roofing for their conservatory.
The process - planning for a conservatory roof installation
Before the conservatory roof installation could start, there were some challenges for the Thermotec by Spire team to consider. There was a large tree that was situated too close to the proposed conservatory and its insulated roofing, as well as a drain that needed to be removed and replaced.

The installation - conservatory roof installation in Skegness
In the middle of 2022’s intense summer heatwave, the Thermotec by Spire team set to work on installing the Meanwell’s insulated conservatory roofing panels.
Aiming to balance thermal efficiency with sunlight, the Meanwell’s chose a hybrid roof. This includes a mix of both aluminium insulated panels and glass panels.
The couple were impressed with our fitters – “They hit challenges, but they got on with the job. Nothing was too much trouble!”

Two years on, and the Meanwells are enjoying the full benefits of their insulated conservatory roofing. “We’re always in there every day. Everyone loves it!”
Over the past two winters, they’ve experienced no draughts in their Skegness conservatory. During the hot summer months, their space has also stayed crisp and cool. They often use the conservatory as a sitting room space. Mrs Meanwell especially loves the improved acoustics, so she can enjoy a quiet and relaxing space to watch her shows.
